YOUR GUIDE TO A GREAT PINT AT HOME
Bag-in-Box, made simple
A polypin is a bag of fresh real ale inside a protective cardboard box, with its own serving tap. No keg, gas cylinder or special equipment is needed to pour a pint.
Choose the right size
5L gives approximately 9 pints, 10L approximately 18 pints and 20L approximately 36 pints. Pick a smaller box for a few drinks at home or a larger one for sharing. Beer availability varies by size.
Up to four weeks after opening
Keep your box cool and out of direct sunlight. In good storage conditions, the beer keeps for up to four weeks after opening. Always follow the date and instructions supplied with your box.
Settle. Position. Pour.
- Transport upright. Put the box in a cool place where you will serve it, with the tap facing forwards and the back raised slightly.
- Allow at least 24 hours for the beer to settle after delivery. Follow the supplied instructions for exposing the tap and releasing any excess gas.
- Pour from the built-in tap. Keep the box still while using it; if you move it, allow the beer to settle again.
Is this the same as a keg?
This is cask-style real ale in a flexible bag. It pours without added gas and has a gentler condition than keg beer. The bag collapses as you pour.
Can I connect it to a handpull?
Yes, Bag-in-Box can be connected to a handpull using suitable fittings. Contact us before ordering if you need help matching it to your setup.
What if the beer looks hazy?
Our beer is unfined and unfiltered, so some natural haze or sediment is normal. Give it time to settle, keep the box still and follow the handling instructions supplied.
