Press Release - WildFest Worstead

May the Fourth be with you at WildFest Worstead

Wildcraft Brewery has become renowned for far more than its brewing over the past 3 years. Dreamchild of Mike Deal and Mark Goodman, the brewery, which makes beers from foraged and at times, unusual ingredients likes to leave its base in Buxton and lay on events for its neighbouring villages and towns.

2019 holds not one but 4 festivals for Wildcraft, taking place in Worstead, Buxton, Costessey and Aylsham.

Mike commented ‘we have always had a massive community focus and want to take the brewery to the people.  It’s not all about the beer, it’s about people coming together and enjoying themselves so our events aim to help people achieve this.’

The first event of 2019 is happening on the Queen Elizabeth Hall field in Worstead on the 4th May and promises a family day out with an evening knees up that sees Pirate Joe and the Foreign Locals headlining their music stage.

The day itself will feature street food, local producer stalls, inflatable assault courses, weird and wonderful animals to hold and pet from Berts Amazing creatures, facepainting and more. There will also be music throughout, kicked off by the Norwich Ukelele Society, hotly followed by a battle of the bands that will run through the afternoon.

There is also room for your furry friends, as the event promises a ‘scrufts’ competition, judging the best of mutts from the local area, with prizes sponsored by Natures Menu.

What’s more, with the date being the 4th May, it would have been rude to ignore what has come to be known by many as ‘Star Wars Day’. Especially as the brewery mascot, who appears on all their labels and pump clips was named in a facebook competition in 2017 as ‘Brewbacca’.  The Norwich Star Wars club will be supporting us in full costume so join in and  come along in your best Star wars outfit, prizes will be awarded for the best costumes…

There will also be some surprises during the day, one of which they are sworn to secrecy about ‘lets just say, its going to be exciting, we are not allowed to share any more than that’ said Mark.

The event runs from 10.30am until 11pm on May the 4th.  More information is available on www.wildcraftbrewery.co.uk or visit them on  facebook, @Wildcraftbrewery for up to the minute news.

Wildcraft Brewery was formed 3 years ago after Crowdfunding for investment. Our ethos encompasses the following:

Foraging as many of our ingredients as possible, while supporting the local economy by buying local, giving back to the surrounding area by planting hedgerows, working with local farmers, schools and groups. Supporting independent, local pubs in any way we can to ensure they thrive and are an important part of their community. And finally being as environmentally friendly as we can, with the smallest carbon footprint we can manage.

Our story is available at: https://wildcraftbrewery.co.uk/pages/story

The Brewery mascot, a pink monster that features on all of its marketing materials and also its labels and pump clips was named ‘Brewbacca’ in a competition on Facebook in 2017. Animations of Brewbacca have become viral and have helped the brewery to grow in the way it has.

Wildcraft beers are now stocked in over 250 pubs, shops and restaurants around the county.
