The Great Sausage Roll Off 2019

It was a cold and wintry start to the day but last Wednesday, I was picked up by the amazing forager and cook, Simon 'Hunter' Marsh and we set off on our journey to London.

Our destination, The Red Lion in Barnes which is run by the very hospitable Angus, a legend in his own right. As Wildcraft, we had an interest in 2 of the sausage rolls in question. Charlie Hodson was using our Yarrow infused beer, Wild Towers in his recipe, while Simon was using our latest creation with Medlars, a crossover between beer and cider. 

The event was fantastic, compered by the delectable Melissa Cole who ensured proceeding's kept moving with a good deal of humour and merryment and judged by Sunday Brunch's Simon Rimmer, 2016 Masterchef champion, Jane Devonshire, Executive chef and pastry aficionado, Calum Franklin and the mighty Andrew Clarke, Chef director of Brunswick House.

The deserving winner was Adrian Oliver, an unassuming, modest chef hailing from Cornwall, you may have seen him on Sunday Brunch this morning... 

Charlie's effort came in second so many thanks to him and also Simon who wasn't far behind, it was a great day that will be remembered for a long time coming...
